Secretary of Polytechnic Party Committee & President Liu Hongyi and Vice President Yang Runhui Receiving Members of the Symphony Orchestra of the College of Music Nuremberg in the Conference Room, Mingde Building
As invited by Shenzhen Municipal Foreign Affairs Office and Shenzhen Polytechnic, 40 members of the Symphony Orchestra of the Nuremberg College of Music came to visit Shenzhen Polytechnic under the arrangement of the International Office of Nuremberg on March 21. Secretary of Polytechnic Party Committee & President Liu Hongyi and Vice President Yang Runhui received Dr. Wang Huanhuan, head of the Symphony Orchestra, conductor Professor G.J. Rumstadt and all members of the Symphony Orchestra met in the Conference Room 109, Mingde Building on the morning they arrived. That very evening the Symphony Orchestra held a world-class concert in our Music Hall. Among the 700-strong audience sitting in the packed Music Hall were President Liu Hongyi, Vice President Yang Runhui, teacher and student representatives from different schools, foreign teacher and overseas student representatives and friends from all walks of life.
Inventive in program design, the Symphony Orchestra of the College of Music Nuremberg arranged the Erhu-symphony orchestra concerto finale of “The Butterfly Lovers”. The harmonizing Erhu and cello showed an incredible fusion of Chinese and western music, testifying that music is without borders and culture is one of the best carriers for exchange between two countries. After the amazing per formance, President Liu Hongyi and Vice President Yang Runhui congratulated the conductor and young artists and took a group photo with them on stage.
Right before he left Shenzhen Polytechnic, conductor Professor G. J. Rumstadt said he was thrilled and delighted at performing here for the beautiful environment, well-equipped Music Hall and well-trained teachers and students. Fond of the poster of the concert, he asked for a copy as a souvenir.
